Black Buck SevenBlack Buck Seven was the seventh and final of the Black Buck missions carried out by an RAF Vulcan bomber, supported by Victor tankers during the Falklands War. Black Buck Seven took place on June 12th, 1982, and cratered the Eastern end of the airfield as well as destroying Argentine aircraft stores and facilities. On June 14th, General Menéndez surrendered the remaining Argentine forces on the Falkland Islands, ending the war and thus removing the need for further Black Buck missions. Additionally, Black Buck Seven was the final combat mission ever flown by the Vulcan, and the aircraft was finally retired, after nearly 30 years service, in 1984. |
