AGM-45a Shrike

The AGM-45A is an anti-radiation missile that was developed by the United States Naval Weapons Center beginning in 1958. Powered by a solid-fuel rocket, the missile's purpose is to home-in on and destroy enemy radars. About 18,500 missiles were manufactured between 1963 and 1982 by Texas Instruments and Sperry Rand.

In 1982, a number were hastily supplied to the RAF and fitted to their Vulcans by "South African" engineers who had American-sounding accents. The missiles were successfully used against a number of Argentine radar installations during the Black Buck missions.

Here are the technical specifications for the AGM-45A Shrike:

Length 10 feet (3 metres)
Diameter 8 inches (0.2 metres)
Wingspan 3 feet (0.9 metres)
Weight 390 lb (177 kg)
